I learned something new with this resource...biomimicry! I loved the deep level of thinking and discussions that took place as we looked at the visual of the fish and then car! Students were excited to get working to create something unique using giraffe characteristics. Page 13 has informative details to help reluctant beginners get started. What a cute and informative resource! Students will enjoy learning about giraffes, and how the shape of a box-fish resembles an amazing new car! "Feel inspired, Be Creative, Make a Change" is a fun worksheet for learners to enjoy completing while learning at the same time! All you need is a dice!

I really like this idea. I was looking for a biomimicry lesson plan and came across this. There are several grammatical errors. Wrong words are chosen (gracious is used to describe the giraffe neck, probably meant to use the word graceful?) and though it encourages children to think of their own random words, it prompts a little too much. I will be able to use this, but will probably have to edit it so that it makes sense. Great idea, just needs some editting!

As for prompting a bit too much, I suppose that is something that a teacher can always monitor in the classroom. Also, the more used to using random inspiration to better students will get. I hope your students will enjoy exploring biomimicry.

What a great introduction to biomimicry. I love how it leads young students from the concept with examples, to guiding their research, to coming up with their own idea in a fun way. I have done biomimicry with first graders and this would be an awesome addition to that lesson!
