la Toussaint spooky stuff Halloween escape game for high school French learners
(66 ratings)$4.25
Add to cartMake learning about la Toussaint interesting with this no-prep digital escape game. The game includes access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks. Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game. Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work! Students can play individually or in teams.
This game about la Toussaint is in English so even your level 1 students can enjoy learning about the holiday and other spooky legends in France.
Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit. They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event. This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.
This item includes:
Your students will enjoy learning without even realizing that they are learning! The challenging game format will get them excited about finding the code to unlock each lock - and the format of the clues for each lock will have them paying close attention - there's no way to solve the puzzles without being 100% focused!
Topics in this game include:
Prep is very easy - you just need to share the website URL with your students. You may want to test the site before you use it, just to make sure nothing is blocked by your district. As some of the clues can be challenging to unlock, you may choose to help your students with the trickier ones. With the teacher guide, you will have the answer key - so you can help guide students towards the correct answer by giving them hints, or if you have limited time, you can adjust the game by reducing the number of locks they need to unlock - just give them the answer(s) to help the activity fit your time constraints.
Note that if you are playing this on Oct 31/Nov 1, the sites get VERY busy. I have made many backup sites, but even those may get slow at times. Also, the French source sites may get overwhelmed on certain dates as well, but there is nothing I can do about that.

This was a fun activity! It took the students (and me!) to figure it how to start. However once they got the hang of it, they had a lot of fun. It was perfect to do on Halloween when the students weren't focused on doing our regular lessons.

This is always a hit with my students in November. They enjoy the challenge of finding the answers and trying to beat the other groups to be the first to finish.

This was way more interactive than me just talking about La Toussaint! Students loved it!

This was a very fun activity. At first, most students needed a little direction to get them started, but then they figured it out. I liked that it had a lot of great cultural information and was also not too easy (and not too challenging, either).

The kids went crazy with this (as always with your escape room sites)! They enjoyed the spooky picture of La Dame Blanche especially :)

I have used this webquest for my French 2 class for the last several years. I have not been disappointed. The students have also really enjoyed them, even when we were remote in the fall of 2021. Thank you for all your effort and for sharing!

This is a fun and engaging activity. ITs not in the Target language but it's an engaging cultural activity. I would recommend the teacher studying it a little and trying it out before playing with students. Once you understand it however its an easy resource that can be used year after year.

I did it with French Immersion 9s and Core French 11s. Both liked it.

If I could give this 6 stars I would. My students LOVED this activity! Even my class who enjoys virtually nothing (except a study hall) was moderately enthusiastic about this activity - and that's saying something! I really hope to be able to incorporate more of these Escape Rooms in my courses in the future. Incroyable! Merci beaucoup!!

This really made them think and work hard.

So fun! My students were really engaged in this. I allowed them to work in pairs or individually, and everyone eventually solved the puzzles and "escaped" . I had some students who were initially frustrated, but they kept going and said they loved the feeling of having solved the puzzle when they figured it out on their own. I will definitely use this again!

This was a cool activity to do for All Saints Day. The students were captivated and loved the spooky aspects as well as the cultural aspects of the activity. The instructions are excellent and help the teacher to conduct the activity with success.

I bought this to go along with a week-long mini unit for La Toussaint in 2019. Unfortunately, I had to be out that week, so I left this for my students to do with partners or in small groups, and even though I wasn't there, the students were able to figure it out, and seemed to enjoy this. I used it again this past year (2020) with a new group of students who were also mostly in school, but did have some remote students, and it went even better than the year prior since I was able to show them how it worked a little easier than when I wasn't here. This is not the first room I purchased from Frenchified, and I know it's not the last either! Thank you for all your amazing resources!

My students love digital escapes, and this was perfect for them to learn about Toussaint. Working online, it is a little trickier to get around to help students in breakout rooms when they get "stuck", but it's a great distance learning activity nonetheless.

My students LOVED THIS. last year! And I am going use it next week with my virtual French students. But I am struggling with the answer from Le Manoir. Where does 10HALLOWEEN come from? Was it last year's show? Because I cannot find that answer. Can I have some help on that?

I had to update the game to reflect the new show - it's on their website (or at least it was last week when I updated it).
