Add to cartMake learning French fun with this simple, comprehensible input French lesson plan and story. This lesson plan includes a story with targeted structures that can be repeated to give your students lots of repetitions. Comprehension activities to use after the story will allow you to engage your students and makes sure that your French lesson is truly comprehensible input.
Le Mauvais Chef is bad - really bad. He puts too much salt on EVERYTHING. He's sad and customers are angry. But is there a simple solution? There are four targeted vocabulary structures that are used multiple times throughout the story. The targeted structures are:
This very simple story is told in two different ways. There is a printable text version, and an animated mp4 version. Tell the story as you watch it (pause if you want to stop and discuss or storyask!), or just watch it for comprehension. The video is just over 5 minutes long, with pause time for students to read the text. There is a second version of the video with only the illustrations - no text - so you can watch it and do story retells. With novice low and novice mid learners, you can tell the story as is. For novice high learners, you can add more details or write a parallel story. You could even use this story at higher levels by having students retell the story in the past.
Here’s what you’ll get in this French Comprehensible Input Lesson:
• Links to the videos both with and without the text
• A printable pdf version of the story
• Comprehension question worksheet
• "Who said it?" worksheet
• Story retell worksheet
• Answer key

“The repetition of mauvais and trop de is awesome. The story is funny, gets students talking, and can lead to other funny food combinations and story add-ons, etc.”

For Claude Monet French Reading Comprehension Activities Impressionism
My students were familiar with Claude Monet's work but didn't know much about his life, so this was useful info not in our textbook. I appreciated having the differentiated versions.

Great way to use history to review reflexive verbs while not just focusing on daily routine - which let's be honest, is boring. Who talks about their daily routine on a regular basis? No one.

For Les Animaux Reading Comprehension: 10 A2 French Animal Passages
I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.
