(29 ratings)$4.00
Add to cartThis passé composé digital escape game is a fun way to learn about French history and culture AND practice forming and using the passé composé at the same time! Your brother-in-law has been accused of a crime and is being held in the Bastille prison. The only way to free him is to find the real criminal - but you will have to use your French skills to do so.
To find the keys to free the friend, students will have to answer questions based on a video and a written passage, plus practice using both the passé composé. Activities are in French, with a little bit of English to help make things clear. Includes both avoir and être as helping verbs, regular and irregular verbs.
This passé composé digital escape game includes a detailed teacher instruction guide with answer key and a link to access the site. Students will need access to the Internet/YouTube in order to play the game. Students will enjoy this game as a fun way of practicing the formation and usage of both tenses.

My older students played this game and loved it. It was a bit difficult for even them at first, so I haven't tried it with my level 2 students. It makes a good review, plus you get some interesting history as well. Merci1

I just played that escape game with my students, and some of the keys to open the locks did not appear. The clue boxes where students enter their answer did not show up. They saw this message instead: "Loading...". Can this be fixed? Thank you.

It's a current issue with Google forms, and an easy fix - I will take care of it and it should be working properly in a few minutes.

Really were engaged with this activity. I do think that there were a couple of things that could be improved such as labeling where the first clue starts. I think that some of the instructions were not as clear as they might have been as I had only one team of students who were able to discover who the real criminal was. That said it was a delightful experience. Thank you.

I enjoyed the content of this resources; however the questions were posed in English instead of French, which took away from the immersive French experience I wanted for my students. Additionally, using Google forms was probably the easiest option for the author, though if a student forgot a capital in their answer, the entire answer would be wrong. This prolonged the task, and as a result I was not able to finish it within an hour period.

I used this with a group of students who have played some of the other escape games so they know how the format works. This kept them engaged for the entire period and have asked to do more!

My students really enjoyed doing this Escape Room. I do like that parts of it was written in English to help students because in an online environment students tend to get discouraged when things are too hard . Thank you !

I think I would love this resource if my kids knew how to put accents on the 'e's. It was a last minute purchase that I directed the kids too, but they couldn't do it because of that. Is there a way to make it more accessible so on those quick, last-minute days (or even sub days) that the accents won't be a deal breaker?

Thanks for the feedback! I generally wouldn't care about the accents too much but since this is an activity focused on the passé composé, it's something I'd like to leave on. I'm thinking that maybe I will add a little bit of text on the form that tells them how to type the é, so they can either type it in or copy and paste it into their answers. (Update: I've added it to the top of each form so hopefully students will be able to copy/paste it.)
