If you've taught perfect tense verbs, but your students need more practice with this grammar skill, then this activity is for you. You'll get 10 cloze reading passages that use past perfect, present perfect, and future perfect verbs. Each low-prep passage comes in 2 different versions and includes 9 different perfect verbs. An answer key is included.
VERSION 1, the easier version, asks students to insert the full appropriate perfect verb, such as “have talked”. Students simply place each of the 9 options into the correct blank space in the passage.
In VERSION 2, the more difficult level, students only need to supply the helping verb (had, has, have, will have). BUT, there are more options available than the student will need, making this a bit more challenging.
For added difficulty, remove the answer choices entirely!
Prepping your materials is easy! Simply print out the passage(s) you want to use, then cut the perfect tense verbs from the bottom of the page and cut apart. Students can glue each verb into its appropriate sentence. OR, print on cardstock and laminate for durability and longterm use. There are 9 different perfect verbs per passage. Answer key is included.
You'll get . . .
