Loved this craft for my first graders! They loved picking their animals for their totem poles and it was a great way to finish up talking about Native American culture before Thanksgiving break. The only feedback I would give is it would be great if the sequencing pages could be smaller. The kids don't need that much space to write and it doesn't fit on even large construction paper well. Other than that, amazing product!

Hi Megan! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave constructive feedback! I am always looking to improve my resources to create the best experience for teachers. I would love to get more clarification on which sequencing pages you're referring to (single dotted line or solid lines "I chose the ______ because...). Please feel free to email me anytime at kimberly@kimberlysclassroom.com I'm happy to look into this and make any helpful changes. If you are using this resource again soon, another quick way to achieve a smaller size would be to print 2 to a page. I hope this helps for now! :)

We used this around Thanksgiving time to discuss Native American tribes. It was a bit challenging for my first grade students because they didn't understand the meaning of several words. However, it was still a good resource, I will just spend more time discussing the vocabulary next time! They loved building their totem poles and I loved how easy of a resource it was to prep.

Hi Natalie! Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your experience! It means a lot to me that your 1st graders enjoyed these activities and that it was easy for you to prep! I appreciate your honesty about the teaching materials. I will reflect on that feedback and see if I can create a lower level version of the vocabulary sheet that is more suitable for teaching little ones. Thank you again for your candor and I hope you have a wonderful school year! :)

I love these pictures. We color and glue to cereal boxes that have been covered in brown butcher paper. Then we stack and create our own totem pole in the hallway. Wonderful!
