Description

Track which high-frequency words each K–2 reader recognizes automatically and monitor mastery growth over time.

110 editable words, 6 levels, 8-tab tracker + printable progress report.

One question, answered clearly: which high-frequency words can this reader recognize automatically, and is word mastery growing?

This teacher-friendly tracker helps you record individual word mastery, monitor progress across assessment checks, and quickly identify words that need additional practice.

Use it for sight word practice, high-frequency word instruction, literacy centers, small groups, intervention, or ongoing reading progress monitoring.

📚 TRACK HIGH-FREQUENCY WORD MASTERY

The Student Mastery tab lets you record a status for each word:

Not Assessed → Beginning → Developing → Mastered

For this tracker, Mastered means the student recognizes and reads the word automatically and accurately without needing to sound it out.

The summary automatically shows:

  • Words Assessed

  • Words Mastered

  • Mastery %

  • Words Needing Practice

📈 SEE MASTERY GROW OVER TIME

The tracker separates session accuracy from overall word mastery.

Current: 76% mastery

Growth: +34 percentage points

This makes it easier to see whether a student is expanding the number of high-frequency words they can recognize automatically.

🔤 SIGHT WORDS + HIGH-FREQUENCY WORDS

The resource uses High-Frequency Word Mastery as the instructional terminology while retaining Sight Word in the product title and description for easy resource discovery.

Many high-frequency words are decodable, while others contain irregular or unexpected spelling patterns. The goal of this tracker is to monitor automatic and accurate word recognition, regardless of whether the word is fully decodable.
