I used this a way for students to use their perimeter knowledge to find the length of sides using a ruler. THe hardest part of this activity was the sizing of the ruler. Many students struggled with the way the ruler could be manipulated. This may be more of a suggestion for Google but there needs to be a way to lock the ruler so it can't be expanded or shrunk.

I used this resource to help prepare my students for using an online ruler for state testing. I love that the ruler includes both cm and in for students to practice identifying which side to use. The color coding helped to support my lower students. Thanks!
