Classroom Jobs Kit for Middle School | 24 Editable Job Cards

Description

Third week of the term and you are still the one passing out the handouts, wiping the board, chasing the hall pass and counting the headsets. Nobody planned that. It happens because jobs in a middle-school room usually get handed out in the first five minutes as a title - "you're the line leader" - and never taught again.

This kit gives every job a card with two duties and one line you can actually check. Not "be responsible". The number on the sheet is true. Back within four minutes. Five out, five back. That line is the difference between a job and a badge.

What is in the download

  • 24 job cards written for a middle-school room - attendance clerk, tech check, sub day host, equipment check, exit ticket clerk, hallway line, lost-and-found clerk, quiet signal - two to a page in the print pack, one to a slide in the deck.

  • Two duties and a done-when test on every card, so a student knows the job is finished and so do you. The test is the part that gets checked for the first five days.

  • Rotation planner - four weeks per job, six columns, and a "who has it now" box you only fill in after you have looked. Twelve jobs print on the page; flip it for the rest.

  • Job application slip, two to a page - rank three jobs, say why in one sentence, name the first thing you will do, and say what you will do if nobody picks you.

  • The method in four moves - pick before day one, hire out loud (five applications read aloud a day), teach the job not the title, rotate on the Friday in front of the class.

  • 29-slide editable deck (.pptx) - every job as its own slide so you can project it while you hire, plus the planner and the application. Upload it to your Drive and open with Google Slides, or run it straight from PowerPoint. Every element is a text box, so your own jobs and your own students' names go in.

  • Print pages in both Letter and A4 (15 pages) and a README with the first-ten-minutes script.

The differentiation is built into the hiring. The student who needs to be seen competent gets tech check. The student who talks too much gets timekeeper, where talking is the job and it has a limit. The quiet one gets the plant. Nobody has to be good at the same thing.

Who buys this: grade 5-9 teachers setting up the room in August, anyone whose job chart died by October, resource-room and self-contained classes that need every student to hold something, and middle-school teams that share a hallway duty roster.

No student login, no app, no district permission. Print the cards, put the 24 titles on the board, and you are hiring before the bell.

Also from this shop: Executive Functioning Task Cards (planning and prioritizing) and the Editable Review Game Template, plus Phishing Lab, Privacy Lab and Spooky Inbox - the playable scam simulations with a free tracker.

License: one classroom, unlimited students and unlimited years. Edit and print it for your own students; please do not resell it or post it on a public site.
