The Raven Quotes by Edgar Allan Poe Bookmarks to Color Book Marker Activity Gift
$2.40
Thanksgiving reading comprehension that makes students cite the paragraph - not guess. It is the last week before the break, every "first Thanksgiving" passage on your shelf repeats a story the surviving records do not actually tell, and you still want real reading work on the projector. This deck hands you two original passages, twenty four-option questions and twenty reveal slides that name the paragraph every answer lives in.
WHAT YOU GET
58 editable slides: teacher quick-start, five ways to run it, a scoreboard, six projected passage slides, four round openers, 20 question slides and 20 reveal slides
Passage 1 (informational, about 530 words): what the December 1621 letter really says, what was missing from the table, how a harvest gathering became a national holiday through Sarah Josepha Hale's thirty-six-year campaign and Lincoln's 1863 proclamation - and the National Day of Mourning observed since 1970
Passage 2 (literary, about 430 words): a family Thanksgiving that holds celebration and remembrance at once - character, word choice, motif and theme questions built on it
Printable twin in US Letter and A4: both passages with numbered paragraphs, the full team quiz, an answer key that explains why each trap option fails, 5 tie-breakers and a run-and-score page
Wildcard written responses and an exit reflection, so the last ten minutes are already planned
HOW IT PLAYS
Project the passage slides and read them together - every paragraph is numbered. Teams answer in four rounds: finding it in the record, how the text is built, inside the story, texts in conversation. Two points for the best answer, one bonus point for naming the paragraph and the trap option. The game is out of 40 and each round caps at 10, so a close class stays close until the wildcard.
WHY TEACHERS BUY IT
Every wrong option is a real reading mistake - the near-true detail, the imported "fact", the anachronism - so the reveal slides teach even when the answer is found
Fact and opinion are separated on the page: the passage names its own records, and Round 2 asks students to check the reasoning
No login, no website, no district IT permission - the PowerPoint opens, a Google Slides copy opens, the PDF prints
Fully editable: swap in your own passages or local history materials and keep the four-option shape; the scoring still works
Aligned practice for RI.6.1-6.8 and RL.6.1-6.6 (Grades 6-8)
GOOGLE SLIDES
Upload the .pptx to your own Google Drive, right-click it and choose Open with > Google Slides - Drive creates the editable copy in seconds. The README walks through it in three steps, along with the five ways to run the game and the scoring rules.
Print and go, or project and play. One classroom, unlimited students and years.
