Engaging "Choose Two" resource to review the 5 themes of geography at the middle and high school level — with print AND digital versions included!
Do you want to review Social Studies concepts in a creative, engaging way? Are you looking to infuse fun and novelty into the classroom while working on geographic skills? Do you need a simple sub plan? Have you been dreaming of the day when student work would magically grade itself? This "Choose Two" Five Themes of Geography activity was made for YOU!
In the digital version, students will read 6 question sets, each containing 3 statements aligned to one of the five themes of geography — for a grand total of 18 possible questions. Students will be tasked with determining which of the 5 themes (location, place, region, movement, or human-environment interaction) best fits each example. If students answer two out of the three questions in a set correctly, they will see a "skip card" appear, allowing them to bypass the third question! This format builds in student-choice and reduces overwhelm, providing students with agency over their learning. Our 5 Themes of Geography "Choose Two" resource is gamification at its finest.
In the print version, students will follow the same instructions...but with a twist from you, the teacher! You may choose to either check students' work as they go, approving of their "skip" for each question set, or you may collect the finished activities and let students know later if they'll need to go back and try again before earning that official "skip." The flexibility of our "Choose Two" activity ensures it will fit the unique flow of your classroom.
