Engaging "Snapshot Shuffle" resource to practice latitude and longitude skills, including identifying and graphing geographic coordinates, at the middle and high school level — with print AND digital versions, plus extension activities and scaffolding options! Social Studies just got even more exciting!
Do you want to review Geography concepts in a creative, engaging way? Do you want to infuse fun and novelty into the classroom while working on key Social Studies skills? Do you need flexibility to meet students' diverse needs? Are you tired of boring latitude and longitude lessons? This "Snapshot Shuffle" Latitude and Longitude resource was made for YOU!
Sally the Sightseer loves to travel the world and photograph the famous landmarks she visits. She wants to put together a scrapbook with all of her photos in chronological order so that she can look back on a timeline of her travels. The only problem? Sally’s photos are all mixed up, and, despite her best efforts, she just can’t remember the correct order!
Students will be provided with polaroid images of the 12 world landmarks Sally visited, complete with names and approximate geographic coordinates. They will also receive a graph with plotted points representing the landmarks. Students will be asked to identify the latitude and longitude for each point on the grid, and enter that information in the table provided. Then, they will match the coordinates to their corresponding landmark to determine the chronological order in which Sally visited the 12 locations. Finally, students will cut and paste (print version) or drag and drop (digital version) the photos into Sally's "scrapbook" in chronological order.
But that's not all! This comprehensive resource comes with two additional activities to extend learning:
Plus...each activity comes with a scaffolded version! Scaffolding options include simplified directions, sentence frames, and work samples. These adaptations have been made with students' diverse needs in mind and can be mixed and matched to create the perfect activity for your unique classroom!
The flexibility of our "Snapshot Shuffle" activity ensures it will fit the unique flow of your classroom.
