Say goodbye to boring, awkward icebreakers and get to know your students in a new way! This “Museum of You” activity is the unique back-to-school activity you’ve been searching for. Students will imagine they are stocking the gift shop in the museum of their lives. What are three items they would sell? What do those items represent? Students will reflect on what matters to them, you will learn about your class, and students will learn about each other!

This engaging ice breaker includes print and digital options, but that’s not all! There are three versions of the activity:

• Version 1: No Price/Rank — Students will “stock the shelves” with three items that represent things that are meaningful to them.
• Version 2: Shelf Ranking — Students will “stock the shelves” with three items, and they must rank those items in order of importance; the item they value most will go on the top shelf, and the rankings will descend from there.
• Version 3: Item Pricing — Students will “stock the shelves” with three items, and they will price those items according to their perceived value.

In all three versions, students will provide written explanations for their items (and their ranking/price, if applicable). Then, students will have the opportunity to “shop” at their classmates’ gift shops and provide feedback via “receipts.” Each version is available as a print or digital (Google Slides) resource for ultimate adaptability!
