All kids love UNO and most kids don't like nonsense words, so I have found putting them together makes it a little more tolerable for my students especially when they get to play regular UNO after (if there has been no complaining!). :)

My students love playing this game during our morning ELA rotations! I teach in a grade 1/2/3 split, so the fact that there are multiple levels is wonderful. All ages enjoy it immensely, and often it is the first game out of the tubs. I also use it during teacher time with students, often to help figure out which phonics skill to focus on next with an individual or group of students. I've also used the blank cards to create another deck of only CVC nonsense words for my emergent readers. Thanks so for a great resource!

Grades taught: 2nd
Right now, I am using this over the summer with my own child. He is a pretty good reader (through using context clues and some phonics), but he struggles with decoding. These are perfect because he can't just guess the word. He loves playing and he has made some good progress with his decoding skills. This is a fantastic resource that I will definitely use in the classroom as well! Thank you!!

I am always looking for ways to have my students practice nonsense words and this was such a fun way to get that practice in! Most of my students have played Uno before so they were already familiar with the basic structure of the game, which allowed them to focus more on the nonsense words. Such a great idea!
