May 1, 2024I use this game in my small groups. Students are constantly asking me when we will play again. They love this game. I typically have students match by feature instead of color or number. So if the last card has a short a sound the card they lay must have a short a sound. If a word starts with ch the next card layed has to have ch somewhere in it. This has really helped students identify parts of words!

January 11, 2023I am a Tier 2 phonics intervention teacher who works with students in small groups. I've used several of these pages this week as an introduction or review activity. My students are always happy to colour, and with new groups starting this week after the holiday break, I figured it would be a good activity to use to introduce the purpose of the group in a fun and non-threatening way. They are also a great activity for students to engage in while you are doing individual assessments. My favourite page is "Confusing Consonants" as almost all of my students struggle to differentiate these. I also like the added activity of sorting and writing the words down. NOTE: Page 10 should be titled "Consonant Blends" instead of "Beginning Blends" to match the title of the colouring page that precedes it. Hoping this can be fixed!

January 1, 2023I think this way of learning to read is annoying, but this resource made it so much more fun! We knew my daughter was going to be tested on these types of words but, before we found this, we didn't know how to prepare her for it. This was perfect! It was a fun way to introduce a foreign concept and have it make sense. It prepared her very well for her second grade testing.

Requam is when you feel like eating spaghetti, but you only have pizza and it just doesn’t satisfy you. My children loved this.
