Ecology Case Study "Urbanization and Habitat Fragmentation"
This resource provides an insightful look at how urbanization and habitat fragmentation affect ecosystems and wildlife populations around the world. Students will explore how expanding cities divide natural habitats, disrupt animal movement, and reduce biodiversity. Through this real-world example, students will strengthen their scientific literacy and understanding of how human development and environmental planning influence ecosystems and species survival.
This case study serves as an excellent introductory activity for units on ecology, human impact, or environmental science. It can also be used as a discussion starter, reading comprehension exercise, or standalone lesson to help students analyze, interpret, and apply scientific concepts related to sustainability and conservation.
Your reading contains ~400-500 words plus 5 questions and their answers.
This resource is suitable for students in grades 7-10. Tackle literacy and science by having your students read and answer questions from a scientific article.
