This is my entire Grade 10 Ontario Careers - GLC2O - teaching curriculum. This is what I use to teach my grade 10 careers class in Ontario. It is all student driven, independent work. I DO NOT USE MY BLUEPRINT. Your students will need access to a computer, that's all.
It includes the three major strands.
Strand A: Developing the Skills, Strategies, and Habits Needed to Succeed
Strand B: Exploring and Preparing for the World of Work
Strand C: Planning and Financial Management to Help Meet Postsecondary Goals
Each unit will take approximately 10 days plus 3 days for the FEU. Each day, your students are given a task to complete in class. 2 times per week, I check that the previous tasks have been completed. I do this check very quickly and only spend about 20 minutes per checking day, making sure all assignments are complete. At the end of each Strand, they get a completion mark based on their daily activities. 2 marks for fully complete, 1 mark for partially complete or late, 0 marks for incomplete at the end of the strand.
You have nothing to prep. You can show up the day of, open up the daily teaching schedule and teach.
Within each strand you'll find:
- 9-10 daily activities.
- 7 Class Movie Worksheets with answer keys. Each day, I play 10-15 minutes of a movie that is related to the course content in terms of inspiration, leadership, etc. The movies are entertaining and the worksheets ensure students are paying attention.
Digital and Distance Learning:
Each daily activity is fully digital which makes it perfect for the classroom, distance learning, or as a sub-plan if needed. If a student misses a day, they simply complete the work at home.
