Buyer Comments:

- "I just started using this resource. I love all the resources I have downloaded from TWF and this one doesn't disappoint! I use the daily warm-ups as intended but I have extended Monday activities to be an APA practice exercise. My students are learning science in English and are bilingual learner, Spanish spoken at home and half their academic subjects are in English. This is a good fit for them as it works with different levels of English."

- "My students and I enjoyed this, thank you for the great resource!"

Each day brings something new

1) Newsworthy Monday – research the science news of the week. Choose one news story about science, read the article and summarize it in 1 paragraph. Must be a news article from a reputable source

2) Tubing Tuesday - Students watch a short video and answer the 3 associated

questions. ALL YouTube links are included but you will need to have access to YouTube to watch them.

3) What Would Happen Wednesday - Students answer a what would happen if ... question to the best of their ability.

4) Toss-Up Thursday - Students complete 1 of 3 tasks which are rotated weekly

  1. Science Job – Research the provided science-related job and in 3-4 paragraphs, state what people who have this job do and how science relates to their daily activities.
  2. Science Term – Students research the definition for the term provided and state how is it used and/or what its function is.
  3. Invention - Students research an invention that changed the world and write 3-4 sentences describing what the invention is and how it changed the world.

5) Famous Friday - For the provided famous scientist, students must research what they accomplished and what they are best known for. Scientists were chosen to represent a diversity that isn't always well displayed.

Tubing Tuesday and Famous Friday also comes with a teacher answer key.

Your resources come in Google Slides, PowerPoint, and PDF formats and include a student workbook where they can record their daily answers.

More Buyer Comments:

- "This is such a great idea! Admin has "suggested" every class begin with a Do Now which can be extremely time-consuming, especially since I teach 4 different courses (Ap Physics, APES, General Environmental & Living Environment)! Because the prompts are general they can really be used in all my classes (with small adjustments for AP)."

The starters will work well for kids in grades 6-9 as they don't require much background information and are very student-driven.
