Description

These three spring environmental change data graphing activities will help your students understand how seasonal climate conditions influence ecosystems while building strong graphing and data analysis skills. This bundle gives teachers an easy, NO PREP way to have students work with real-world environmental data to explore Spring Temperature & Daylight Recovery, Snowmelt & Spring Flooding, and Spring Ecosystem Growth.

There are 3 Graphing Labs Included:

  1. Spring Temperature & Daylight Recovery Investigation
  2. Snowmelt & Spring Flooding Investigation
  3. Spring Ecosystem Growth Investigation

Students analyze real-world environmental datasets related to daylight hours, temperature changes, snowpack levels, river flow, rainfall, plant growth, and pollinator activity. They then create a variety of graph types from data tables before using their graphs to identify patterns, analyze seasonal trends, and explain how ecosystems respond to changing spring climate conditions.

Each activity includes a complete answer key with the required graphs if you need to differentiate for different ability levels.

How It Works

Students use provided real-world data tables to:

  • Create multiple types of graphs (line graphs, bar graphs, double line graphs, double bar graphs, and scatter plots)
  • Identify seasonal patterns in daylight, temperature, snowmelt, and ecosystem activity
  • Compare relationships between environmental variables such as temperature and plant growth
  • Analyze how snowmelt influences river flow and flooding risk
  • Explore how spring climate conditions affect ecosystems and pollinators
  • Use evidence from graphs to answer discussion questions about seasonal environmental change

Each activity moves students from reading data → graphing data → interpreting patterns → explaining spring environmental processes.

Perfect for:

  • Spring science units
  • Seasonal change lessons
  • Earth science data analysis activities
  • Ecosystem and plant growth lessons
  • Graphing skill development
  • Small group collaboration
  • Sub plans or review days
  • Cross-curricular math connections

This graphing bundle is also included inside my Middle School Science Graphing & Data Analysis Mega Bundle at a significant discount. The bundle contains graphing activities for all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science topics.
