How Solve & Draw Activities Work
Students solve the area and circumference problems and add to the drawing based on their answers. Two versions of each page (excluding the challenge page) are included. One has answers with Pi, the other has answers that require calculating with Pi. The drawings and prompts are identical – to tell the difference you will need to look at the answer choices or at the top left circle of the border. Level 1 pages have a black circle in the top left of the border.
An optional challenge page is included that can be copied on the back of the worksheet or given to fast finishers– this gives students an extension opportunity by asking them to create a new problem using a circle with new dimensions. They get to create their own drawing prompts and can then add those to their drawings. You may also have them share these challenge problems with the rest of class, which provides additional practice for everyone.

My students desperately needed this. I am teaching them to organize their materials. They need to be able to find the materials needed for them to be successful. I used this to introduce things they would be doing in the fall of 2023. This was great!

We celebrated Pi Day and used this resource to intereact with Pi and area of circles. This resource offered differentiation, so kids could choose whether or not to do a multi-step problem. It was very fun to draw to answer their question. Great idea. They enjoyed it very much! Thanks!
