Experience
I empower English educators to balance academic rigor with student engagement through creative, easy-to-implement resources that also prioritize teacher well-being. Since starting my teaching journey in 2008, I’ve worked with a diverse range of students from ELs to honors-level classes and at every high school grade level.
I believe that great teaching connects students to texts in ways that feel both relevant and meaningful. Whether it’s analyzing classic literature through the lens of pop culture or designing systems that make teaching sustainable, my goal is to help teachers rediscover the joy of teaching while keeping student learning at the heart of their work.
Teaching style
I focus on student-led, inquiry-driven learning that blends academic rigor with accessibility. My teaching philosophy is simple:
Meet students where they are.
Use the skills of English to analyze anything, from Macbeth to viral social media campaigns.
Inspire a love for reading while acknowledging the realities of today’s world.
I design cohesive, year-long curricula that encourage students to revisit and deepen their understanding of key ideas as they move through the course.
Honors and awards
Presented at multiple conferences and trainings, including national and state-level events and in-services for my school district.
Honored to maintain connections with many of my former students, who remind me why I love teaching.
My most meaningful moments are seeing my students grow, not just as learners but as people—whether they’re analyzing a challenging text, finding their voice in class, or developing a lifelong passion for learning.
Education
I hold a BA in English Literature and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Technology. My teaching is deeply inspired by my 12th-grade teacher, who recognized my unique needs and helped me thrive during a challenging year. This experience shaped my approach to differentiation and personalizing education for students with diverse circumstances.
More About Me
Outside of teaching, I stay busy with my three children and coaching volleyball and track and field. These roles keep me grounded and remind me that building community, whether in the classroom, on the court, or at home, is at the heart of everything I do.
