This 2026 Euro song contest differentiated French reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the big song contest that takes place every year and gets all of Europe excited! This year the contest will be hosted by Turin, Italy and will take place between May 12-16, 2026.
This French reading activity includes three versions of the article - one for novice learners, one for intermediate learners (includes more past tense and expanded vocabulary) and one for advanced learners (includes the subjunctive and other more complex verb tenses). No matter which version you use with your students, the comprehension questions in French and English will allow them to show you that they've understood. Each reading includes a glossary at the bottom of each page.
In addition to the readings, you will find an answer key and related resources - including a list to the playlist of all the songs! Your students can use the included voting form to rate each song and determine which ones they think have earned enough points to move on. Watch as a class or as homework, then calculate votes from your own students - how closely will they match the results of the real contest?

“Excellent reading comprehension practice for my independent studiers!”
For Claude Monet French Reading Comprehension Activities Impressionism
My students were familiar with Claude Monet's work but didn't know much about his life, so this was useful info not in our textbook. I appreciated having the differentiated versions.

For French Reflexive Verbs | Grammar Lesson, Readings & Worksheets
Great way to use history to review reflexive verbs while not just focusing on daily routine - which let's be honest, is boring. Who talks about their daily routine on a regular basis? No one.

For Les Animaux Reading Comprehension: 10 A2 French Animal Passages
I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.

I use these all the time in my courses, I love them. However, for this particular set there is no link in the 3/5ths clue.

Thank you for letting me know about the missing link - I've updated the image and it should be working now. You may have to F5/refresh to get the link to show properly (it covers the body of the statue).
