Get BundleMake learning about Spanish culture and history interesting with this no-prep digital escape game bundle. The games include access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks. Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game. Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work! Students can play individually or in teams.
Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit. They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event. This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.
This item includes:
Your students will enjoy learning without even realizing that they are learning! The challenging game format will get them excited about finding the code to unlock each lock - and the format of the clues for each lock will have them paying close attention - there's no way to solve the puzzles without being 100% focused!
Prep is very easy - you just need to share the website URL with your students. You may want to test the site before you use it, just to make sure nothing is blocked by your district. As some of the clues can be challenging to unlock, you may choose to help your students with the trickier ones. With the teacher guide, you will have the answer key - so you can help guide students towards the correct answer by giving them hints, or if you have limited time, you can adjust the game by reducing the number of locks they need to unlock - just give them the answer(s) to help the activity fit your time constraints.

My Spanish students are I think too young to enjoy this (6th & 7th grades). Too challenging even in English.

Students enjoyed this and were engaged, but I have found in all levels I teach ( 4-12th) that they struggle with using chrome books/ smart devices when it comes to the clues in google spreadsheets or docs... any advice?

Awesome!! I test ran this with my older/advanced students using Chromebooks and after some false starts, they really got into it and gave it a definite thumbs up for all levels of students (I teach 9 - 12th graders) with more structured guidance from me for the younger students. (BTW - we have 100 minute block periods) This being said, some words of advice for those using Chromebooks with school blocked sites. Students were able to access the youtube.com videos and blocked websites using their cell phones - my students figured this out for themselves and shared their work-arounds with me. One final note - I am going to develop a reflection piece that will ask students to provide information/opinions about what they learned after they have finished the activity. I think that students can get caught up in winning the game - focusing on solving the puzzle, but not necessarily processing what they are reading/watching/listening to in order to find the keys. By having a reflection piece they are held accountable for doing more than just skimming the information to find the solution. The work put into these products is very impressive and my students were definitely engaged. I like finding unique ways of using computers so that my students are just doing online grammar activities tied to the textbook.

Love this bundle and the author is so helpful and communicates quickly! Definitely suggest this for all levels!

I had trouble getting the initial website to load on school computers because they were blocked due to having a "game" tag. However, I e-mailed about it, and within hours, the creator got back to me and sent me a link to a Google site that she had created with the same information, and it worked perfectly for myself and my students! Students said it was hard, but their level of engagement was through the roof! :)
