(5 ratings)$4.00
Add to cartBring French history and culture into your classroom with an Eiffel Tower PowerPoint and reading designed for comprehensible input. Students learn why many people initially disliked the tower and described it as ugly. Appropriate for second-semester French and later, this low-prep lesson includes 29 visual slides, printable text, comprehension questions, grammar practice with on, oral and written retelling, video and website links, and a complete answer key.
This French Eiffel Tower lesson uses repeated target structures and visual support to help students understand an engaging nonfiction topic through French. The historical controversy gives students a memorable reason to read, respond, and discuss their opinions.

Present the 29-slide PowerPoint and pause to circle the target structures, ask questions, and check comprehension. Give students the printable text for a second reading, followed by the comprehension questions and practice with on. Use the photographs for a supported oral retell or assign the written retell for individual practice. Finish with one of the related videos or websites to extend the cultural connection.
This Eiffel Tower reading works well during a Paris, French monuments, architecture, travel, French culture, or landmarks unit. Students learn real historical content while receiving the repetition and scaffolding they need to understand and respond successfully in French.

For Claude Monet French Reading Comprehension Activities Impressionism
My students were familiar with Claude Monet's work but didn't know much about his life, so this was useful info not in our textbook. I appreciated having the differentiated versions.

For French Reflexive Verbs | Grammar Lesson, Readings & Worksheets
Great way to use history to review reflexive verbs while not just focusing on daily routine - which let's be honest, is boring. Who talks about their daily routine on a regular basis? No one.

For Les Animaux Reading Comprehension: 10 A2 French Animal Passages
I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.

Thank you for letting me know about the missing link - I've updated the image and it should be working now. You may have to F5/refresh to get the link to show properly (it covers the body of the statue).
