Description

Are you looking for a fun French reading comprehension activity for the fall season?  This short story is a great way to practice interpretive reading while enjoying the holiday season. It has three different versions, so you can use it with multiple levels. One version is in the present tense. One version of the story is in the past tense, with lots of instances of the passé composé and imparfait - so it's the perfect chance to review for your more advanced students, or get a little more practice for your students who are learning the past tense. The third version is in the past, but with the passé simple instead of the passé composé for your more advanced students.

It's fall. The leaves are changing, coats and sweaters are showing up, and the smell of pumpkin spice latte is taking over. But the drink hides a sinister secret that could lead to the downfall of the planet! Who can save us, and what is the secret weapon? A great story for fall/autumn, Halloween or Thanksgiving.

Teacher reviews

“Very cute story, thorough response questions. Easy to leave for students to do independently during a supply teacher visit.”

“Great reading and a timely topic. Is there a grammatical error in the last sentence of this paragraph? Should it be "Il faut toujours être bien..." “Il faut faire quelque chose !” a crié Luis. “Mais d’abord, je vais acheter un casse-croûte . Je vais avoir faim plus tard. Il fait toujours être bien préparé!””
