French Holidays Digital Escape Game - fun French culture activity for les fêtes
(29 ratings)$4.25
Add to cartMake learning about holidays in France interesting with this no-prep digital escape game. The game includes access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks. Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game. Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work! Students can play individually or in teams.
Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit. They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event. This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.
This item includes:
Access to a website where your students can play the game
Complete teacher's guide to playing the game
Answer key so you can help students if they get stuck!
Your students will enjoy learning without even realizing that they are learning! The challenging game format will get them excited about finding the code to unlock each lock - and the format of the clues for each lock will have them paying close attention - there's no way to solve the puzzles without being 100% focused! Some of the readings are in French, so this is best for 2nd year or later.
The included topics are:
Armistice
Chandeleur
Le 14 Juillet
Le 1 Avril
La Toussaint
Prep is very easy - you just need to share the website URL with your students. You may want to test the site before you use it, just to make sure nothing is blocked by your district. As some of the clues can be challenging to unlock, you may choose to help your students with the trickier ones. With the teacher guide, you will have the answer key - so you can help guide students towards the correct answer by giving them hints, or if you have limited time, you can adjust the game by reducing the number of locks they need to unlock - just give them the answer(s) to help the activity fit your time constraints.

I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.

For Impressionism Digital Escape Room | High School Art / French Games
I have spent the afternoon trying out this escape room for myself. First I tried the French version. Without the resource telling me what they codes were, I never would have figured it out. Knowing the code, I continued to work with the resource to figure it out. But honestly, this escape room needs a lot of work to be a go in my classroom. I was very disappointed. I would suggest that each lock have a direct question that the students would be looking for. I then decided, why not try the English version and see if this might work better for my students. While it is better, the direct questions are still missing and I think I would have to give a lot of hints and directions. The worst page is the Musée D'Orsay page. I literally had to copy the picture and put it into chat gpt to figure out what this wanted. More details are necessary because students would not be prepared for this.
Reply from Frenchified
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. A direct question and answer would defeat the purpose of an escape room activity - the activity is supposed to be challenging and force the students to read the clues very carefully, looking for anything that might seem out of place. I have requested that TPT refund your purchase.

For Bon Appétit - Comprehensible Input unit 7 for beginning French CI
I like the variety and real-life links in this resource. I also like the comprehensible story of Stéphane. I do not like how the dictionary is organized and I also think that some of the authentic listening (like the Peppa Pig one) could use an activity to get students listening for specific information. I was able to make a resource but it would be nice to have something already included. Also, if I assign one activity on Google classroom (the story for example), I had to cut and paste it as the resource dos is all one pdf.
