French Extra Episode 1 Worksheet Listening comprehension and Vocabulary Activity
(20 ratings)$3.50
Add to cartThis Extra French activities packet for episode 1 includes activities for the French version of the show. Includes comprehension and vocabulary activities to make the episode more useful.
The show Extra! is a thirteen-episode series for French language learners. it takes place in a Paris apartment/dormitory and has four main characters - Sam, Nico, Sacha, and Annie. Sam is an American who is trying to learn French as well as to make some new friends. He has a secret that will affect the way he relates to other people.
Each episode can stand alone, although it is more interesting to start from the beginning and watch them in order. I spread the episodes out over the course of a semester, but you could do them more or less frequently.
I usually show these to my second-year students during the second semester. They have enough vocabulary to understand most of the dialog by this time. As the season goes on, Sam's French skills improve - and the level of language used by the characters also goes up.
The worksheets provide comprehension checks but also scaffolding resources.
In this packet you will find:
• vocabulary list with English translations
• vocabulary list with no translations - have students fill in while watching
• comprehension questions in French
• comprehension questions in English
• flashcards for the vocabulary list
• useful words section with translations and explanations
• word search
• two crossword puzzles - one for vocabulary and a second to go over the plot
• cryptogram - one with and one without a help guide. This particular activity is based upon Sam’s mistakes in speaking French. Have students decode the sentences and then correct his errors.
• A "Who Said It" activity to match the lines with the character.
• A cloze activity with words from the show and lines from the episode.

Great resource with lots of different activities! This is truly a no prep, plug and play resource! My students love it and it keeps them on task while watching the episode. It also helps us create discussions during and after the episode. I really like the list of vocabulary that we do together at the beginning.

Perfect timing! My students are fed up with distance learning. When they don't have as much visual and auditory input, they are totally bored. Enter Extra! French episode 1! Sure, it wasn't Hollywood-level entertaining for the students, but they enjoyed watching this very comprehensible story! It was a welcome change from all of the reading they have been doing. The resource packet from TPT is comprehensive. This was so easy to assign, there was very little prep on my part. I plan to use this in class next year as well so that I am not always their source of input. I love this resource. It's a very welcome change, it's engaging and comprehensible, and the prep work is already done for you. I highly recommend for those days when you need a break but you want your students to keep acquiring French! There are so many possible extension activities to do with this, including students rewriting and details or plot lines, and/or students playing these roles in their own creation of an episode. OH the possibilities!
