Description

Make French past tense verb conjugation more engaging with this imparfait hidden picture activity. Students complete five self-grading Google Sheets games by conjugating French verbs correctly. Each correct response reveals part of an image, while an incorrect response displays “false” so students can revise their answer and keep working independently.

This resource contains five different boards and five hidden images. Assign one board for focused practice, use several boards across a unit, or assign the complete set for an extended review.

The five imparfait conjugation games cover:

  • Regular verbs
  • Irregular verbs
  • Être
  • Reflexive verbs
  • Mixed verb review

How the activity works:

  1. Share the Google Sheets file with students.
  2. Students type their conjugated verb forms into the answer boxes.
  3. Each correct response reveals one section of the hidden picture.
  4. An incorrect response displays “false.”
  5. Students revise their work until the entire image appears.

Use these French imparfait games for:

  • Independent practice
  • Grammar review
  • Learning stations
  • Homework
  • Early finishers
  • Test preparation
  • Targeted intervention
  • A full-class-period conjugation review

The instant visual feedback helps students identify and correct mistakes without waiting for the teacher to grade every response. Separate boards let you target regular verbs, irregular verbs, être, or reflexive verbs before moving students to mixed practice.

These digital hidden-picture activities are especially useful after students have learned how to form the imparfait and need repeated conjugation practice.

Please note: This is a digital Google Sheets resource. Students need access to a compatible device and the shared file to complete the activities. Before assigning it, review any included teacher directions concerning file sharing, copies, accents, capitalization, and accepted answer formats.
