My French students absolutely LOVED ? this "Perdu au Louvre" digital escape room activity as we ended our school year. I can't wait to use again next year! Merci mille fois;-)

This was a fun activity for students to review, but not having accents made it a bit difficult.

Absolutely love this digital escape room. Used it as an early finisher towards the end of the school year. Was also great when I had a sub for one of my classes. I think the students enjoyed it too. I just wish I could connect the Google Form results to my account so I can see their answers (maybe I can and I just couldn't figure it out?).

My students enjoy these escape rooms. Once they figured out how they work they are happy when I pull one out for them to do. I like that they are working in groups and helping each other. Before they know it the time is over.

Cute idea but pretty clunky execution. Can't have the students complete it individually and can't give it to a substitute because it is behind a paywall. Answer guide doesn't even include all the answers, and I had to hunt down the links to each clue from the website that seems like it hasn't been updated in years/ this game was forgotten because it is very difficult to find. Overall, needs to be re-formatted and then it would be great!
Reply from Frenchified
I am trying to understand what you mean by the site being behind a paywall - the game is hosted on my website, there is no paywall. If your students were unable to access the site, it may have been the settings your district has rather than a paywall - districts sometimes block student access to the site as the word "games" is part of the domain name. If this is the case, I have set up private versions of the game on a Google sites option as an alternative, I would be happy to do so for you if you email me directly at heather@frenchified.com. The teacher guide does include answers to each clue page, they are on page 10 for the answers to the specific activities and 5-9 for the answers to open each of the locks.

This was a great activity for a Monday to review these two challenging tenses. I liked the variety of resources so that students had to read and listen. I set it as an in-class challenge juniors vs. seniors and I loved the spirit of cooperation that developed among groups!

This was lots of fun! Students really enjoyed trying to 'break out'. The task with the map was a little difficult for some students, but overall a very engaging activity

I can't say it enough. My students much rather reviewing verbs while playing games. Every class I've ever done escape games in, they comment that it was the most fun they've had while reviewing verbs.

Lots of fun, my remote students enjoyed being able to play a game together since they don't get that same interaction as in person.

This was my saving grace while teaching the passé composé and imparfait. I struggled to teach it, and this digital escape room was "actually fun," according to one of my students. This activity helped solidify their skills, and I will definitely use it again.

Grades taught: 12th, 11th, 10th
I must admit that I found this confusing since I am a bit lost when it comes to some digital activities. The content was great. My students ended up figuring it out for me and in the end, they really enjoyed it. I think it was a good review for them as well.

Grades taught: 11th
I love this resource! It is very engaging, and while my students didn't necessarily escape (only 1 group did), it did inspire their own escape room. This is a great way for students to practice conjugating their past tense verbs. The only reason why I left a 4 is that I would have liked for the instructions to be in French. The English instructions are great for core French students, but a version with French instructions would be great for immersion students. But even with English instructions, I will continue to use it because students are so engaged.

My students had SO much fun with this activity! They got so into it, and it really brought out their competitive side as I used it for a class-wide competition. I would definitely recommend this as excellent review.

I used this with my grade 10 Core French class by splitting them up into groups of 2-3 and giving them 45 minutes to complete it - only one group finished in that time frame! As a class, we unlocked one of the locks together because they were struggling to figure it out on their own (the lock where they had to decide whether the verb needs to be conjugated in le passé composé or l'imparfait). We also went through each activity together as a class after I gave them a period to complete it. The only reason why I rated this a 4 star is because on the day that I did this with my students, the Google Form for the lock where students had to listen to an audio and answer questions wasn't loading or working, but then it was working the next day.

My students loved this activity and finished it in under an hour working in teams of 3. The link was blocked by our school firewall, so I would recommend testing it out from a student computer before class, so you have time for IT to give it permissions. We lost a bit of time waiting to get it working. Other than that it worked perfectly, except the answer key says the answer for lock 2 is 16/5 and this is not correct, should be 17/5 in the teacher copy. Thanks for an amazing resource!!

My students loved this and it served as a solid review of the passe compose. There was a problem with the map (I guess due to changes at the museum itself) and Frenchified quickly responded and edited the resource.
Selina A.
Grades taught: 11th, 12th, 10th
My students liked the experience, but it was hard as a teacher because the google forms didn't go to me. I couldn't tell who had completed the task other than them showing me the computer. Lock #3 directions are awkward because nothing is returned, rather they take their answers to use as the lock code.

For privacy reasons, I can't ask for student names on the form. Since there are no names, the data generated probably wouldn't be very useful. If you'd like, I can make a private copy of the game for you to use with a different form that asks for names and that you would be able to view the data generated - just send me an email at heather@frenchified.com and I'll get it set up.

The students loved the idea of this game! They found it difficult to understand that the code didn't appear if they had made a mistake in the work. Great tool to get them accustomed to reviewing their work and solving problems. I thought it was very fun and interesting. Bravo!

My students worked on this together in small groups in class and they really were engaged the entire time. It was fun to see them all working together and competing with the other teams in the class. However, there is an error on Task #5 that prohibits students from finding the right answer - it seems that the map that is added on the resource does not lead students to answer #917 for task number 5. I tried to figure it out for over 45 minutes and finally realized that it's a problem with the resource itself.

Thank you for letting me know about the incorrect map. It looks like the Louvre has closed certain sections due to Covid and removed the map that had that room on it (it's been replaced by a big red "closed" section). I've just updated the clue and the link to the map so that the correct answer can now be found. If you download the pdf again, you'll be able to see the new information.

I've been finding it tricky to keep students engaged during online learning. Even though they don't love grammar, this activity way a fun way to get students to review grammar skills and to collaborate with peers. My students worked together in breakout rooms on Google Meet to complete! Thanks so much!

This is an excellent resource. We were able to use in in my French Immersion 10 class, BUT there were some technical difficulties accessing all of the files on our school network. Luckily, I was able to quickly adapt it and use our own servers for it.

For a product tagged as Grade 9-12, and a product description that says "a little bit of English," I found the amount of English overwhelming and unnecessary. I was disappointed when I opened the document to see such huge paragraphs of writing in English. I feel this takes away from the authentic experience. This is certainly a creative activity however, I think some details could be improved for the students to better understand what they required to do. I found Lock #3 to be lacking in directions about how to put the information into the digital "lock." I felt like the students needed a lot of support with details that could have been better explained. I think there needs to be a version like the one purchased, but also a full French version for the higher level immersion students.

I love your digital escape activities. They are filled with good hints that require the students to think critically and not just regurgitate information. I also love that they have the students explore authentic French and francophone websites, but are still accessible to lower-level French learners. Wonderful!

After completing an "escape room" in Math, my MS students were excited to try one in French. They enjoyed practicing PC and Imparfait using the activities provided. Merci!

My students and I really enjoyed this review activity. It challenged them and I was happy to see them persevere through the questions. Highly recommended!

I like the digital format of this resource - less paperwork to deal with. The activities are overall interesting and kept the students engaged with an appropriate amount of challenge.

Simple and easy to use. Exactly what I needed for additional grammar practice. Students really enjoyed it! Some were a little frustrated, but the sort of frustrated that they wanted to figure it out and beat the game!

My students really enjoyed this product. We have hour long classes so it was a bit easier to do in one period. I gave them extra credit for finishing, but had them complete at least 3/5 locks for full credit for the activity. They were really engaged through the entire hour trying to figure out the grammar and working with it. It was a great review of the materials. Merci mille fois et thank you!

These where wonderful for the end of the year. Students were engaged. So far one link didn't load "the arc de triomphe" page didn't load but that was an easy fix, I just provided them with a different site.

This was a fantastic activity! An answer would have been appreciated, however :)

Students (French 3) really enjoyed this. It was challenging but doable. I think the quickest group finished in about 25 minutes, and the last group finished in about 45 minutes. I also should have had a better reward for them at the end, because it was a bit anticlimactic when they finally solved all the puzzles.
French S.
I was really happy with the clues and the fact that the students had to complete multiple parts to solve the clue. culture + grammar + well-crafted = love
