In My Own Classroom:
We played this game in teams of 4s yesterday during my ELA & Writing intervention block. The kids were really excited to play and had a few interesting ways to match up the sentence fragments. They especially loved the rock, paper, scissor challenge card that allows the winner to steal the other players cards. Not once during the entire hour long block did I have any behavior issues to deal with. Though I did have to periodically answer team debates about whether or not a statement was a complete sentence or a fragment, which gave me better insight into where the kids were struggling with the concept.

The resource comes with clear instructions. So far, I've used this with on-level 6th graders and advanced 7th and 8th graders after we have reviewed complete sentences, fragments, and clauses. It was nice to have a genuinely fun and competitive game for them to play that also helped them review concepts. The surprise action cards, such as a rock-paper-scissors card, really make it feel more like a game and not just forced grammar review. I had some 6th graders invested in this game who I can't get to focus on anything else in class!
