Need some engaging Area and Perimeter Activities? This is a FUN GAME to practice area and perimeter! My students struggled switching back and forth between the two, which is why I created this game! Your video game loving students will be very engaged with the theme of this area and perimeter activity!
Engage your students with a fun game that pits dragons against the kingdom's castles. The winner of each battle is determined by calculating the strength of the dragon in terms of the perimeter or area it can defeat, and the defensive strength of the castle according to its perimeter or area.
This is the 3rd grade version. I also have a 4th grade version of this product that uses larger dimensions and does not have unit squares shown on the rectangles.
What's Included?
- Detailed Instructions Page
- 20 game cards cards (10 castle cards and 10 dragon cards)

What Standards are Covered?
Common Core:

3.MD.C.7 Relate area to the operations of multiplication and addition.
3.MD.C.8 Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.
TEKS:
3.6C Determine the area of rectangles with whole number side lengths in problems using multiplication related to the number of rows times the number of unit squares in each row.
3.7B Determine the perimeter of a polygon or a missing length when given perimeter and remaining side lengths in problems.
