Description

Turn abstract counting into concrete, hands-on spatial architecture! Extension 1: Rhythm Values & Duration Strips pairs mathematically scaled duration manipulatives with authentic Montessori 3-part nomenclature cards and self-checking control booklets to build an intuitive, physical foundation for time signatures and note values.

Whether you guide an authentic Montessori 6–9 or 9–12 environment, run a studio instrument program, teach elementary general music, or homeschool your children, this tactile resource replaces confusing fraction analogies with linear, geometric precision.

---

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN EXTENSION 1:

• Proportional Sensorial Duration Strips: Mathematically scaled tactile tiles (1 beat = 2 inches) covering whole notes (8"), half notes (4"), quarter notes (2"), beamed eighth pairs, and sixteenth note subdivisions, complete with matching rest strips.

• 36 Full-Color Montessori 3-Part Cards: Complete sets pairing standard notation symbols, note/rest nomenclature, duration definitions, and rhythmic solfège syllables across 3 standardized card parts (Classified Control Card, Mute Picture Card, and Label Strip).

• 4 Foldable Self-Checking Control Booklets: Compact reference booklets organized by metric value to give students total agency and self-correction during shelf work.

• Sensorial Measure-Building Trays (2/4, 3/4, & 4/4): Open boundary frames engineered so students physically see and feel when a measure is balanced, deficient, or overflowing.

• Teacher Quick-Start Guide & 3-Period Lesson Script: Step-by-step presentation scripts, printing/cutting recommendations, and shelf placement guidelines.

---

WHY EDUCATORS LOVE THIS RESOURCE:

✔ Authentic Sensorial-to-Abstract Bridge: Students physically fit two half-note tiles or four quarter-note tiles into the 4/4 frame to tangibly discover metric equivalence before writing it on paper.

✔ Built-In Control of Error: Strips and booklets are designed for autonomous self-checking, eliminating continuous teacher validation and keeping independent work periods productive.

✔ Color-Coded & Visual Consistency: Distinct, harmonious color codings (Terracotta, Forest Sage, Warm Ochre, Slate Blue) help students categorize note groupings across shelf stations.

✔ Zero-Prep Substitute & Station Ready: Clear visual cards and straightforward measure mats make this turnkey for independent centers, sub tubs, or multi-age co-op rotations.
