Experience

Welcome! I am a Music Educator and an American Montessori Society (AMS 6–12) credentialed educator with years of experience in a lower elementary classroom and a multi-instrumental specialist with a career dedicated to making comprehensive music education hands-on, intuitive, and accessible. Over the course of my teaching journey, I have directed middle school and high school choral ensembles, led secondary orchestra programs, and taught general music across the elementary and intermediate grades in both public and private school settings.

In the studio, I teach private lessons across violin, piano, voice, guitar, and ukulele, blending foundational classical pedagogy with student-centered exploration. My ensemble leadership extends across the lifespan—from directing an adult community choir to designing and directing a multi-generational violin ensemble of 80 musicians ranging from kindergarteners to adults.

My curriculum work bridges rigorous music literacy, acoustic science, and authentic Montessori Cosmic Education. Every resource in this studio is crafted to dismantle abstract music theory into tactile, self-correcting shelf work and active listening experiences that empower learners of all ages to explore sound with confidence.

Teaching style

LTL-6GNZ9WMC My classroom and studio are built on a balance of warmth, joyful energy, and structured intention. I believe students do their best creative work in an environment that is both firm and gentle—where high standards and consistent routines provide security, while patience and genuine kindness nurture artistic risk-taking.

Above all, I love working with people of every age and stage. Nothing compares to the spark of an "aha!" moment—whether it is an early elementary student discovering that the finale of the decanomial work is a colorful Pink Tower, or an adult choral singer locking in a four-part harmony for the first time. I guide each student to trust their curiosity, celebrate small breakthroughs, and find enduring joy in learning and discovering.

Honors and awards

A proud milestone in my teaching journey was presenting to fellow educators at a Montessori conference in St. Louis on the neurological power of music for neurodivergent learners. I shared research-backed methods to take the fear out of implementing the Montessori bells and demonstrated how any classroom—regardless of budget or access to traditional instruments—can become a thriving, joyful hub of musical exploration.

Education

My approach to music instruction is grounded in both rigorous classical conservatory training and child-centered Montessori philosophy. I earned my Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Baylor University, specializing in vocal performance with a minor in piano. This dual vocal and keyboard foundation informs my deep focus on healthy vocal mechanics, ear training, and keyboard fluency across all ages.

Complementing my collegiate music studies, I hold an American Montessori Society (AMS) 6–12 Elementary credential. Integrating Montessori Cosmic Education with sequential music literacy allows me to design learning experiences that honor the elementary child’s boundless curiosity, need for independence, and desire to understand the scientific and cultural story behind every sound.

More About Me

With a Bachelor of Music Education, I am a certified Music educator with experience in directing choirs (elementary, middle school, high school, and adult choirs), orchestra, theatre, band, and general music for ages 18 month-12th grade; and I am an AMS credentialed Montessori 6-12 guide with experience in both lower and upper elementary classrooms! With these two passions in mind, I want to make music and Montessori more accessible to all children! With extensive research in the importance of music in a child's cognitive development, and having presented at conferences on the subject, I am deeply passionate about bringing music into a child's everyday life! Welcome to the marriage of music and Montessori!
