Characteristics of Living Things Reading Passage and Pixel Art
Looking for a fun and engaging way to have students your science interact with their lesson and show their understanding of the different characteristics of living things? Looking for a simple reading passage outside of the textbook paired with a fun self-checking digital practice? Ready to get some prep time back while still providing quality instruction opportunities for your students? This resource includes a 1 and a half page reading passage discussing the different characteristics of life, providing examples and non-examples. Next, take it a step further with the 12-question self-checking pixel art digital activity is a fun way to engage your Biology students into thinking about the different scenarios of life and identifying which characteristic is being depicted based on the scenario. This digital resource provides instant feedback to students and, upon completion, allows you an easy grader! Incorporate it into your lesson after reading, as a test prep review, sub plan, homework or partner exercise.

“A word bank or drop down option would’ve been helpful. Students knew the content, but didn’t know exactly what words needed to be typed to get it right.”
For Calculating Hourly Wages and Overtime Pay Pixel Art
While I absolutely enjoy this resource, I had some initial difficulty getting my students to actually be able to work on it individually. First, it is online only through google slides; so, I made a copy as instructed. However, the mistake I made was sharing that copy with all of my students. When they accessed it, they were all editing the same copy. I had to make a copy for each of my students and share it with them individually. Second, I had to give each student editor permission (I only missed this step twice). That being said I do love the resource as it self-checks, enabling students to get a 100% and complete the picture. I plan to us it again.

Hi Velma, thank you for letting us know you liked this resource. Typically, once you create your own copy, we recommend sharing that through your schools Learning Management system and then there is typically a spot to click that creates individual copies for students. Hopefully that can streamline that process for you for future use!
