Description

These three seasonal data and graphing activities will help your students understand seasonal changes while building graphing and data analysis skills. This bundle gives teachers an easy, NO PREP way to have students work with real-world environmental data to explore how seasons affect Earth’s systems.

There are 3 Graphing Lab Included:

1. Earth’s Axial Tilt, Sun Angle & Daylight

2. Seasonal Environmental Systems, Water Cycle & Ecosystem Response

3. Seasonal Temperature Lag, Heat Capacity & Solar Radiation

Students analyze real climate and environmental datasets related to sunlight, temperature, precipitation, snowfall, river flow, humidity, and plant growth. They then create a variety of graph types from data tables before using their graphs to identify patterns, analyze trends, and explain seasonal changes using evidence. Each activity includes a complete answer key with the required graphs if you need to differentiate to different ability levels.

These investigations are designed to help students connect abstract Earth science concepts—like Earth’s tilt, solar energy, thermal energy storage, heat capacity, and the water cycle—to real-world seasonal environmental changes.

How It Works

Students use provided real-world data tables to:

  • Create multiple types of graphs (line graphs, bar graphs, scatter plots, and double line graphs)
  • Identify patterns and seasonal trends in environmental data
  • Compare relationships between variables such as temperature and daylight hours
  • Analyze how seasonal changes affect Earth’s surface and living systems
  • Use evidence from graphs to answer discussion questions about seasonal changes

Each activity moves students from reading data → graphing data → interpreting patterns → explaining seasonal processes.

This graphing bundle is also included inside my High School Science Graphing & Data Analysis Mega Bundle at a significant discount. The bundle contains graphing activities for grades 9-12 science topics in biological and physical sciences as well as specific subjects like chemistry, physics, and biology.
