Sound Transfer STEM Activity - The Silencer

Share

Description

Your students' mission requires them to design and build a soundproofing container that will reduce noise as much as possible.

In my opinion, learning about soundproofing is very important. I think students need to understanding that exposure to high levels of sound can lead to issues such as Tinnitus and hearing loss.

User Comment: "A really fun challenge. You're resources are all fantastic. Thanks for sharing!"

In this soundproofing STEM activity, I've created a project whereby your students will need to think, research, plan, and build something that a) relates to the course curriculum and b) is applicable outside the classroom. They will be left with something they can be proud of and have a deeper understanding of what you've been covering in class.

Your students will need to be creative in their efforts but also resourceful as they research and put together the optimal combination of materials to reduce sound. It also allows students who have different learning styles to demonstrate their understanding in a hands-on way.
