EASY CLASSROOM SETUP

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
This is an online activity that uses external websites. Students need reliable internet access and compatible devices.
Before class, test every link on the same network and type of device your students will use. Your district must allow access to Genially, YouTube, JigsawPlanet, and any other current image or puzzle-hosting sites used by the game.
Please review the preview and test the provided links before purchasing or assigning the activity. School filters and district restrictions may prevent some external content from loading.
LANGUAGE AND DIFFICULTY
This resource focuses on French food vocabulary, careful reading, and problem-solving. Some clues can be challenging, so the teacher guide and answer key allow you to offer hints or adjust the number of locks.
Before publishing this description, specify which directions, background information, videos, and student-facing clues are in French and which are in English. This will help buyers determine whether the language balance fits their class.
PERFECT FOR
• French food and restaurant units
• La nourriture vocabulary review
• Beginning-of-unit engagement
• End-of-unit review
• Individual digital practice
• Team challenges
• A 45-minute class period
• Low-prep lesson plans
• An engaging alternative to a traditional vocabulary worksheet

I liked this escape room last year but now i'm having trouble viewing the image.

Are you referring to the main image, or one of the images on the clues? It could be that your district has blocked access to ThingLink, which is what hosts the image.

Used this with some tutor students and it was a huge hit! However, I thought the instructions and background knowledge was going to be in French, not English.

Awesome escape room! It's challenging, but not impossible. A great activity with almost zero prep (though you may want to test it out yourself to offer tips and hints to those who are struggling).

I loved the idea of this resource, but unfortunately both my students and I found some of the activities confusing. I had planned to use it for my 5 different class sections, but after trying it with my strongest group and seeing their frustration with some of the activities I decided not to use it with my other classes.

The idea was great, and the students were enthusiastic about using it to supplement their foods vocabulary. However, one of the weblinks in the game did not work, which was disappointing to me and confusing for the kids. They were unable to solve one of the scenarios, so I had to just give them the answer. Edit: The link that did not work was the puzzle part to clue #1. (There were two links for clue #1: a menu and, apparently, a puzzle.) The puzzle would not load for me on my MacBook Pro or on my students' Chromebooks. We all tried on our school internet. I also tried at home on my own Wi-Fi. It would not load there either.

I'm sorry to hear that - could you please let me know which link it is that wasn't working for you? I just checked them and they all came up for me, so it's possible that your district has blocked one of the sites.

My Grade 11 Core French students LOVED this escape room! The day before we played, I asked my students who could bring in a laptop to school and I created groups based on that one person (we do not have school-owned devices). The level of language is perfect for my Core French students and they seriously enjoyed themselves so much! I did have one student grumble at the end that a cucumber is not a vegetable but I'm not mad about it! Thank you for this awesome experience!!

Great resource! My students loved this as a Friday activity and asked me to do another escape room as well. Some of it was a bit challenging, but if you are there to provide them with direction, it will run smoothly. Thank you for sharing!
