Add to cartDescription
This French reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the hidden city beneath Paris. Paris is known as the city of lights, but there is a dark city underneath. Learn about the development of the catacombs and sewer system and the people who now love to explore them. It is suitable for novice-high/intermediate-low students with teacher guidance and higher-level students to work independently. If you teach AP French, this reading can be useful in giving your students practice reading nonfiction articles for the interpretive section of the test. The reading can lead to discussion or writing activities to include the other two modes of communication.
A 2-3 page article in intermediate French about the secrets hidden beneath the streets of this beautiful city. Along with the article, there is a 2-page worksheet with text-dependent questions. October 16, 2026My students were familiar with Claude Monet's work but didn't know much about his life, so this was useful info not in our textbook. I appreciated having the differentiated versions.

October 14, 2026Great way to use history to review reflexive verbs while not just focusing on daily routine - which let's be honest, is boring. Who talks about their daily routine on a regular basis? No one.

For Les Animaux Reading Comprehension: 10 A2 French Animal Passages
October 10, 2026I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.

- Nobody ever notices the French teacher to give them awards for anything! My students, my family and my mom like me - is that enough? Oh, and my beer league hockey team won the championship several years ago.
