Practice telling time, school schedules, numbers, and être with a beginning French escape room for the first months of French 1. Students use novice-level language in a self-grading digital mystery, and they cannot advance until each challenge is solved correctly.
This beginning French escape room is a game that your students will be able to play in the very first months of French level 1! They will use their language skills to convince Adriana to accept a date with Joseph.
In order to do this activity, students need to know:
How to talk about school supplies in French
How to talk about a school schedule in French
How to read numbers in French
The verb être in the present tense
The students will use their reading, listening, and writing skills to complete the tasks. There are 5 different tasks to complete, each one allowing them to practice talking about school, prices, and the verb être in French.
The tasks include:
Listening - put the subjects in the correct order to describe a French school schedule
Reading - read the price of the school supply and then fill out the price tag
Vocabulary - put the school supplies in the shopping cart
Grammar/writing - put the correct form of the verb être in the paragraph
Reading - read a short passage about the Bac, la rentrée, and the French school system and answer several questions
Listening - What did Joseph ask, and how did Adriana respond?
At the end of the game, once they have completed the tasks they will see a congratulations screen with a suprise image. You will want them to take a screenshot to share with you as proof that they have completed the game.
The game is hosted in genial.ly - so no Google forms, and students don't need to log in (other than typing their name at the beginning of the game). It is self-grading and students can't move on to the next task until they've successfully completed the first one. No prep - just share the link with your students and they can start the game.

For Claude Monet French Reading Comprehension Activities Impressionism
My students were familiar with Claude Monet's work but didn't know much about his life, so this was useful info not in our textbook. I appreciated having the differentiated versions.

Good use of an authentic text to work with students on reflexive verbs but also using something many of them are familiar with - R&J.

Great way to use history to review reflexive verbs while not just focusing on daily routine - which let's be honest, is boring. Who talks about their daily routine on a regular basis? No one.

For Les Animaux Reading Comprehension: 10 A2 French Animal Passages
I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.

I use these all the time in my courses, I love them. However, for this particular set there is no link in the 3/5ths clue.

Thank you for letting me know about the missing link - I've updated the image and it should be working now. You may have to F5/refresh to get the link to show properly (it covers the body of the statue).
