Explore Perspectives with Engaging Mentor Texts for Early Stage 1 Learners

Dive into the concept of Perspective with this comprehensive Early Stage 1 English resource, designed specifically for NSW DET teachers.

Using the powerful mentor texts Same But Little Bit Diff’rent by Kylie Dunstan and All the Ways to be Smart by Davina Bell, this resource helps young learners explore and develop their understanding of different viewpoints and how they shape opinions.

Learning Intentions:

  • Students will learn to understand the textual concept of ‘perspective’ by forming and comparing opinions, and analysing how texts reflect different views.

Success Criteria:

  • Form and compare opinions: Students will learn how to use information from texts to shape their own viewpoints.
  • Understand context: Students will explore how words can have different meanings in different contexts.
  • Identify personal connections: Learners will relate their own experiences to the texts and recognize aspects of their world reflected in the stories.
