Do you want to teach students the history of Valentine's in a creative, motivating way? Do you want to infuse fun and novelty into the classroom while working on reading comprehension skills? Do you need a simple sub plan for February? Have you been dreaming of the day when student work would magically grade itself? This activity was made for YOU!
Students will read an informational passage that covers the history of Valentine's Day, as well as related cultural traditions around the globe! Then, students will answer 16 self-checking comprehension questions. Finally, they will uncover a secret code! Students will be motivated to solve the puzzle while learning along the way! Our History of Valentine's Day Digital Decoder is gamification at its finest.

This lesson serves as a fantastic Holiday-themed comprehension activity, and it can also be used as an easy sub plan! This activity is a great addition to your English Language Arts, Social Studies, or Pop Culture class.
P.S. We know that Valentine's Day is often about showing love to others...but you deserve to show yourself love with a lesson that does the prep AND grading for you.

For Calculating Hourly Wages and Overtime Pay Pixel Art
While I absolutely enjoy this resource, I had some initial difficulty getting my students to actually be able to work on it individually. First, it is online only through google slides; so, I made a copy as instructed. However, the mistake I made was sharing that copy with all of my students. When they accessed it, they were all editing the same copy. I had to make a copy for each of my students and share it with them individually. Second, I had to give each student editor permission (I only missed this step twice). That being said I do love the resource as it self-checks, enabling students to get a 100% and complete the picture. I plan to us it again.

Typically, once you create your own copy, we recommend sharing that through your schools Learning Management system and then there is typically a spot to click that creates individual copies for students. For The Cardiovascular System Terminology Practice
fonts are small and a bit hard to read/maximize space on the page for ease of use. Some spelling/capitalization errors - very important in Medical Terminology.

In terms of grammatics, we referrenced a current medical terminology textbook popular with school districts. We also double checked this against online resources/hospital websites.
