(33 ratings)$4.75
Add to cartNot sure how to address ChatGPT and other AI tools in the secondary classroom? Worried about the use of artificial intelligence and plagiarism in schools? Looking to engage middle and high school students in relevant, age-appropriate discussions about current events in technology while increasing digital literacy? This lesson is for you!
ChatGPT, a natural language processing app by OpenAI, is gaining popularity among students and adults alike. Many teachers have well-founded concerns about potential issues due to this AI technology...but AI doesn't have to be a source of anxiety and fear! This lesson will help you jumpstart conversations around the software in your classroom while having a bit of fun with your students!
The Details!
In this lesson, students will be tasked with reading 3 essays and determining which one belongs to which author: a student, a teacher, and ChatGPT. But there's a (secret) catch...all three essays were written actually written by ChatGPT!
After watching a video to gain background knowledge, completing the "Identifying Authorship" task, and discovering the "secret" about the essays, students will engage in a lively class discussion and complete a reflective exit ticket. Through it all, you will be addressing the benefits and drawbacks of ChatGPT and teaching students to use tech tools responsibly and ethically.

For Calculating Hourly Wages and Overtime Pay Pixel Art
While I absolutely enjoy this resource, I had some initial difficulty getting my students to actually be able to work on it individually. First, it is online only through google slides; so, I made a copy as instructed. However, the mistake I made was sharing that copy with all of my students. When they accessed it, they were all editing the same copy. I had to make a copy for each of my students and share it with them individually. Second, I had to give each student editor permission (I only missed this step twice). That being said I do love the resource as it self-checks, enabling students to get a 100% and complete the picture. I plan to us it again.
Reply from Surviving in Secondary
Hi Velma, thank you for letting us know you liked this resource. Typically, once you create your own copy, we recommend sharing that through your schools Learning Management system and then there is typically a spot to click that creates individual copies for students. Hopefully that can streamline that process for you for future use!

fonts are small and a bit hard to read/maximize space on the page for ease of use. Some spelling/capitalization errors - very important in Medical Terminology.
Reply from Surviving in Secondary
Hi, Thanks for your feedback! The font size is 14, which is fairly standard. I'd check to make sure your printer is printing the document at full scale. In terms of grammatics, we referrenced a current medical terminology textbook popular with school districts. We also double checked this against online resources/hospital websites. If you have any specific concerns, please reach out to us via email at hello@survivinginsecondary.com. Thank you!
