Description
This 146-page classroom engagement assessment includes 16 student skill checklists, 489 targeted interventions, and 197 measurable sample goals focused on work habits, class engagement, and work completion. The printable and fillable classroom engagement data sheets help educators identify why a student is struggling to begin, remain engaged with, or complete classroom work.
A student described as “unmotivated,” “off task,” or “refusing to work” may actually need support with one or more specific skills. The student may have difficulty attending during instruction, beginning work, maintaining attention, returning after a distraction, asking for help, persisting through difficulty, managing time, checking completed work, or balancing accuracy and speed. A broad description of the behavior does not tell the team what needs to be taught or changed.
This behavior skills assessment helps educators move from a general concern about participation or incomplete work to a specific, teachable skill. Rather than piecing together a work habits checklist, work completion checklist, intervention ideas, and goals from separate resources, educators can use one aligned toolkit to move from assessment to intervention planning.

Targeted Class Engagement and Work Completion Interventions
Across the 16 skill areas, educators receive 489 targeted intervention ideas. The interventions are tailored to the specific skill assessed rather than repeated across every checklist.
Recommendations may include explicit teaching, clear start cues, task chunking, visual supports, environmental adjustments, planned breaks, modeling, guided practice, help-seeking instruction, reinforcement, self-monitoring, time-management supports, and strategies for increasing persistence and independence.
Educators can select the interventions that best match the student’s needs, the classroom setting, and the likely reason the skill is difficult. The work completion interventions are designed to support thoughtful planning rather than relying on repeated reminders, consequences, or a one-size-fits-all response to incomplete work.
Measurable Class Engagement and Work Completion Goals
The resource includes 197 measurable sample goals aligned with the individual checklist skills. These include work completion goals, task initiation goals, attention and engagement goals, persistence goals, help-seeking goals, and goals related to work pace, accuracy, participation, and independent work.
Each goal can be adjusted to reflect the student’s baseline performance, setting, level of support, and expected criteria. The goals provide a starting point for IEP, BIP, MTSS, and classroom intervention planning while making it easier to connect assessment results with instruction and progress monitoring.
