These posters are intended to be a reference for students as they learn to increase their academic discourse and debate skills in whole class and small group discussion and work time. Using formal, academic language can be difficult for students in upper elementary and middle school. Using sentence frames provides all students with a structure that focuses on academics, maintains respect, and furthers student-to-student talk.

• Rotate through the posters.
• Use the consolidated category posters (see page 8)
• Print 2 on one page (using your printer’s settings) for half-sheet posters
