Do you need a way for students to review their ELA skills at home? Teach It to Me provides students and their families a meaningful way to review Language Arts content taught in 2nd grade as homework. These no-prep printables cover main idea & supporting details, facts & opinions, author's purpose, and making text connections. Students get to be the teacher and teach a parent (or other family member/adult) about a skill. No more shrugs when parents ask their student what they are learning at school! A total of 15 homework sheets are included.
How Teach It To Me Homework Works!
It is recommended that no more than one Teach It to Me is assigned per week. The top portion of each Teach It to Me is completed in class. This can be done as a morning warm-up, during a related lesson, or any other portion of your day that works. Based on your student needs, you may adjust the support they get while completing it. Students can work independently, as a small group, or as a whole class. You can work through one on the board with students, have a class discussion, or any other format that suits the dynamics and needs of your classroom.
Examples of completed Teach It to Mes are included. They can be used as pre-made examples or to refer to in case clarification of the directions is needed. Many of the answers will vary, especially the sections where students need to support their answers.
The bottom section of the Teach It to Me is designed to give parents a chance to give you feedback regarding how their child was able to communicate the information. It is not the intent that a student would receive a lower grade if they are “not yet able “ or only at a “good start”. Anything other than a “yes” is a good indication that the student might need re-teaching or more practice at school.
