Get BundleBuild a strong first-semester foundation with this Beginning French Curriculum for novice high school learners. Designed as a structured French 1 curriculum for Units 1–4, these ready-to-use Comprehensible Input French lessons include daily presentations, stories, activities, assessments, videos, and teacher lesson plans. Use the four units as your first-semester framework or alongside a required district textbook.
This resource is designed for teachers who want to use French comprehensible input but still need clear sequencing, daily structure, and coverage of common first-semester French 1 topics. Each unit guides students toward understanding and using French through meaningful communication, circling, repetition, stories, and input-supported practice.
Designed to help novice learners build confidence through meaningful communication, the curriculum provides everything needed to guide students through the first stages of language acquisition while reducing teacher planning time. Whether you're teaching a full-year French 1 course or using individual units, these lessons are organized to support reading, listening, speaking, writing, and vocabulary development through comprehensible input.
This resource is ideal if:
These units are the perfect complement to a district curriculum or textbook - they cover the typical vocabulary and grammar taught in the first semester of French 1, but with a more communicated approach. Work through the unit with circling and repetition and at the end of each unit, your students will be amazed at how much they can do with the language!
Here's what you'll get in each unit:
Your students will pick up the language as they work through the unit. With a combination of the daily PowerPoint to allow for circling and repetition and the activities to give students using the language in a real-life way, you will be amazed at how much they can do by the end of the unit! Each unit has a full set of lesson plans that will take you through everything students need to know in order to read the unit story at the end.
There are 8 units for levels 1 and 2 French. If you would like to see what vocabulary is included in each unit, please visit http://bit.ly/2Sg3tLK.
BONUS!
When you purchase levels 1-4 as a bundle, you will also receive all 4 review escape games. The games go over the same vocabulary and topics as the units, with a plot based on the unit stories. You can see the games here:

TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID…
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sara L. says “I've been wanting to take the CI plunge and this resource did it for me! I experimented with 7th graders who have French for only 9 weeks and my level I 8th graders. I wasn't sure how the 7th graders would react but they LOVED it! I followed the resource almost exactly although I did need to spread the days out a bit. I was amazed at what students could DO at the conclusion of the unit. This did it for me, I have purchased the following units from Frenchified and am now a fan of CI! “
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mme CC says “This resource is quite the gem. It has everything you need. I love the amount of prepared comprehensible input we have! My district textbook claims to be CI based, but there isn't nearly enough input provided. As a busy teacher, I needed something with input and output tasks ready to go and this has it all! Thank you so much! I look forward to using the other units!”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hannah H says “I liked all the repetition, and I purchased another of these packs. My students like the pictures, and recognized most of the famous people used in the PowerPoint. I love how the PowerPoint was in Word, I was able to turn it into google slides (we use Schoology, and it takes Google Docs) with no problem. Great resource! It also comes with worksheets and some graphic organizers. Love all those things. “
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mlle D says “Another fantastic resource that proved to be versatile and well worth the money. It was so easy to pick and choose activities to include during distance learning. I love the consistency with your units and how well laid out and organized they are. “

“There aren't many useful and well-done French resources, but this one is all of the above. It does a fantastic job in combining written, oral and comprehension skills with an interesting and engaging flare. Looking forward to using the next set of units.”
“I'm still on my journey to transition my teaching to more CI / ADI, but I needed a structured curriculum that I could use to guide me and this has helped me so much!”

My students were familiar with Claude Monet's work but didn't know much about his life, so this was useful info not in our textbook. I appreciated having the differentiated versions.

I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.

For Impressionism Digital Escape Room | High School Art / French Games
I have spent the afternoon trying out this escape room for myself. First I tried the French version. Without the resource telling me what they codes were, I never would have figured it out. Knowing the code, I continued to work with the resource to figure it out. But honestly, this escape room needs a lot of work to be a go in my classroom. I was very disappointed. I would suggest that each lock have a direct question that the students would be looking for. I then decided, why not try the English version and see if this might work better for my students. While it is better, the direct questions are still missing and I think I would have to give a lot of hints and directions. The worst page is the Musée D'Orsay page. I literally had to copy the picture and put it into chat gpt to figure out what this wanted. More details are necessary because students would not be prepared for this.
Reply from Frenchified
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. A direct question and answer would defeat the purpose of an escape room activity - the activity is supposed to be challenging and force the students to read the clues very carefully, looking for anything that might seem out of place. I have requested that TPT refund your purchase.

For Extra French Listening Comprehension Worksheets & Activities | Episodes 1-13
I needed something a little longer than the original worksheet I purchased somewhere else. This keeps them busy but also engaged. I like how the vocabulary practice for the episode is repetitive, but it also gives many choices of activities to choose from. We usually save one of the fun ones at the end for a timed competition.
