Core French Reading Comprehension Activity on the French Foreign Legion military
(2 ratings)$4.00
Add to cartThis Intermediate ench reading comprehension activity will teach your students about the role of the French Foreign Legion. The French Foreign Legion is a military unit with nearly two centuries of experience in fighting and serving in some of the most dangerous areas of the world. Learn about why it was formed, how recruits are trained, and how this unit is different from other parts of the French military.
It is suitable for novice-high/intermediate-low students with teacher guidance and higher-level students to work independently. If you teach AP French, this reading can be useful in giving your students practice reading nonfiction articles for the interpretive section of the test. The reading can lead to discussion or writing activities to include the other two modes of communication.
Includes a printable reading with vocabulary, comprehension questions in both English and French, answer key, and links to related videos and websites.

I left this as a packet for level 2 students in addition to other work when I was out for a few days due to surgery. I offered a few bonus points if they selected 2-3 readings to keep them busy when everything else was turned in. They loved learning about animals and many students who didn't have time while I was out chose to complete the entire packet on their own time for fun once I was back.

For Impressionism Digital Escape Room | High School Art / French Games
I have spent the afternoon trying out this escape room for myself. First I tried the French version. Without the resource telling me what they codes were, I never would have figured it out. Knowing the code, I continued to work with the resource to figure it out. But honestly, this escape room needs a lot of work to be a go in my classroom. I was very disappointed. I would suggest that each lock have a direct question that the students would be looking for. I then decided, why not try the English version and see if this might work better for my students. While it is better, the direct questions are still missing and I think I would have to give a lot of hints and directions. The worst page is the Musée D'Orsay page. I literally had to copy the picture and put it into chat gpt to figure out what this wanted. More details are necessary because students would not be prepared for this.
Reply from Frenchified
Sorry to hear about your difficulties. A direct question and answer would defeat the purpose of an escape room activity - the activity is supposed to be challenging and force the students to read the clues very carefully, looking for anything that might seem out of place. I have requested that TPT refund your purchase.

For Intermediate French past tense reading Imparfait/Passé Composé Sidney Crosby
This reading activity was a great way to practise l’imparfait et le passé composé in a meaningful and engaging context. Using Sidney Crosby as the topic was especially effective for connecting French grammar practice to something students found interesting and relatable. The reading provided natural opportunities for students to identify and distinguish between the two past tenses while building comprehension skills. I like the variety and real-life links in this resource. I also like the comprehensible story of Stéphane. I do not like how the dictionary is organized and I also think that some of the authentic listening (like the Peppa Pig one) could use an activity to get students listening for specific information. I was able to make a resource but it would be nice to have something already included. Also, if I assign one activity on Google classroom (the story for example), I had to cut and paste it as the resource dos is all one pdf.

This is an issue with your school district blocking the sites - were they able to reach the main game site at all? Or was it the links from the game site to the other sites that were blocked? If they were unable to reach the game site, it's possible that publishing from within your district will fix the problem - if you'd like to troubleshoot it, email me directly at heather@frenchified.com

I've taught with TPR for years, but hadn't gone full CI due in part to the amount of prep. I was just completely overwhelmed when I looked at other CI curriculums. How thrilled I was to discover Frenchified. So streamlined and much more "do-able!" Everything is ready in this curriculum (visuals, practice activities and assessments). I especially love how major grammar topics and culture are both embedded within the presentations. The only thing I would ask is to add Google Slides as an option in lieu of the Power Points. Thank you so much for sharing all of your work with us!

Thank you so much for your kind review! If you look in the distance learning folder, there should be a Google slides version of the PowerPoints for you. They are broken up into smaller files sometimes, but they should be available to you. If you can't find them, please send me an email and I'll make sure that you can access them.

For Beginning French food vocabulary practice game café activity au restaurant
I bought it for my grade 9 A1-A2 French students as we are doing a food unit and I think that the product is labeled for the wrong age group and timeframe. The majority of my students finished the escape room today in 7-10 minutes, which was a big shock. It was advertised to take 45 minutes so I was really counting on this to hold my students over on a day that I was not feeling well enough to teach. I would suggest adding more difficult challenges as this is too easy for high school students. On the other hand, I love the concept of this resource and appreciate the time that the creator put into making it. It was also easy to access and assign to students.
Reply from Frenchified
I'm so sorry that this didn't meet your needs. I think A2 may be a bit too advanced for this activity - it's for the very beginning (A0) French students, so I agree that it would not take someone who is at an A1-A2 level very long to do. I would be happy to offer you a refund if you would like one, please email me directly at Heather@frenchified.com.

For J'aime Comprehensible Input unit 2 for beginning French curriculum complete unit
Great and engaging topic and wonderful use of CI. These topics had my grade 8s on and ready for class. Lots of opportunities for students to share their likes and dislikes, regardless of their hobbies or interests. Have used it two years now and will be using it again this year! Comes with all the slides, printables, games, and more
