Description

  • Looking for a fun way to test your students' prior knowledge about IDENTIFYING FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS

  • Need a fun game to engage your students?

  • Use this as an exit task after teaching a unit of work on IDENTIFYING FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS

Social Emotional Learning and reading facial and body clues is a life skill for all students to master, especially those who may have special needs.

This pack is designed to help teach some of the more common expressions and feelings that your students may encounter in their day to day lives.

The first set of flashcards could be used to discuss these feelings and would be useful for second language learners. Discuss the facial and body features of each of the people in the images. I have used images in preference to clipart, as they convey greater meaning.

•I have included blank templates which can be used with your own images to suit the needs of your students. The font used on each of the images is “Century Gothic” which is readily available on all computers.

•For a final bit of fun, I have included some jigsaw puzzles that your students may like to try and complete.

Scenario cards

•Group scenario cards can be used with your students to discuss how the people in the pictures are interacting with one another. Where might they be? What might be happening? What could happen next? Do they all feel the same? How can you tell?

•Single person scenario cards can be used with your students to discuss what may be happening? Why is the person sad? How can you tell? What might have happened to make them feel sad? What might someone do to make them feel better? Etc

•

These cards make a great introduction to the WHO AM I? Game which is included in this resource.

•

This is a game of strategy.

To play, share a copy of the file with each player.

Then each one must copy and paste their character on their slides.

To rule out characters, each player covers them with a counter until they can determine which is the character they are thinking of.

Encourage your students to use words related to emotions in the photo version. Eg Is your person smiling? Is your person looking sad? Is your person feeling angry?

Is your person using their hands to express their feelings?

Guaranteed to be fun, engaging and keep your students amused while reinforcing and consolidating what your students have learned along the way.

Your PowerPoint Game is located in the zip file.
