Description

✅Subitising is the instant recognition of patterns of shapes to be able to determine a number. There are many different ways in which we all see these patterns and they are a lively discussion topic for any primary grade class to determine how we interpret these displays of dots.

✅I encourage you to view this dot number talk by Jo Boaler in one of her many inspirational presentations https://vimeo.com/129139086 where she works through th is concept with a middle primary group of students.

✅This download comes with both a PowerPoint presentation and a PDF version with 27 slides/pages (including credits and terms of use).

✅As the slides increase in difficulty the students transfer their knowledge from class discussions and can readily determine a quite complex display of dots on a page.

✅The graphics are engaging and visually inviting for students with some wonderful clipart from Manny's Sketchpad .

✅These are a perfect way for students to focus on their subitising skills. This activity can be completed as a whole class, small group or individually.

I am using this unit now and have found it fantastic! The lessons are clear, well structured and easy to follow, particularly when teaching some of the more sensitive PDH content. This unit has made planning and teaching PDHPE so much easier! I love how clearly the lessons are sequenced, with the learning building naturally from one lesson to the next. Having both PDH and PE lessons included makes it incredibly convenient and takes so much of the guesswork out of planning. The topics are highly relevant and practical, particularly emergency planning, fire safety, decision-making, wellbeing, resilience and responding to feedback. The PE lessons provide great opportunities for students to stay active while developing their movement skills, fitness and enjoyment of physical activity. I also really appreciate the optional consolidation lessons, which provide flexibility to revisit and reinforce key concepts. A comprehensive, practical and well-organised resource that is a huge time saver!

For Escape the Monster Math Game: Percentages of Numbers Edition

This was such a fun way to practice percentages! My students loved the monster theme and were excited to solve each problem to help lock the monsters away. It turned what could have been a routine math practice activity into an engaging challenge. The game was easy to use, kept students motivated, and provided great practice with finding percentages of numbers. A fantastic resource for making math review more interactive and enjoyable!
