Do you want to teach students the history of Halloween in a creative, motivating way? Do you want to infuse fun and novelty into the classroom while working on reading comprehension skills? Do you need a simple sub plan for October? Have you been dreaming of the day when student work would magically grade itself? This activity was made for YOU!
Students will read an informational passage that covers the history of Halloween, as well as similar cultural traditions around the globe, from Dia de los Muertos to Obon and more! Then, students will answer 12 self-checking comprehension questions. Finally, they will uncover a secret code! Students will be motivated to solve the puzzle while learning along the way! Our History of Halloween Digital Decoder is gamification at its finest.

This lesson serves as a fantastic Holiday-themed comprehension activity, and it can also be used as an easy sub plan! This activity is a great addition to your English Language Arts, Social Studies, or Pop Culture class.
P.S. We know Halloween isn't typically a gift-giving holiday...but you deserve to treat yourself to the gift of a lesson that does the prep AND grading for you.

For Calculating Hourly Wages and Overtime Pay Pixel Art
While I absolutely enjoy this resource, I had some initial difficulty getting my students to actually be able to work on it individually. First, it is online only through google slides; so, I made a copy as instructed. However, the mistake I made was sharing that copy with all of my students. When they accessed it, they were all editing the same copy. I had to make a copy for each of my students and share it with them individually. Second, I had to give each student editor permission (I only missed this step twice). That being said I do love the resource as it self-checks, enabling students to get a 100% and complete the picture. I plan to us it again.

For The Cardiovascular System Terminology Practice
fonts are small and a bit hard to read/maximize space on the page for ease of use. Some spelling/capitalization errors - very important in Medical Terminology.

For Intro to the Executive Branch - Digital Resource Activity for Gov & Civics
Solid resource that introduces students to the executive branch, however, the secret code was screwed up and ended up not making sense, 2 numbers needed to be changed for it to make sense. Highly suggest modeling the first two answers or so for students because it can be a bit confusing at first.

For Aquatic Biomes Reading Passage and Pixel Art Activity
My students enjoyed this activity. However, many were frustrated when "intertidal" would not work for the answer to question #8. Looking at the answer key it was misspelled in the Google Sheets file as "intertidel" and I am not able to correct it.

For Compound Probability Question Trail
Some of the station answer choices are incorrect, based on the key. From what I can tell, three of them are incorrect (11, 3 and 13 I think). Also, clarification on some of the questions would be helpful, specifically on the vowel question (y?) and the blue flower/purple vase question.

For Mendelian Genetics Holiday Gingerbread Coloring Activity
I have several color by number activities I use in Biology but this may be my favorite because there are 3 versions to color. The questions/content are the same but not everyone is coloring the same picture so it gives some variety for me to display and to keep everyone doing their own work.
